Topic Pack Focus: Choose the Stages Your Pack Covers
Version: 2.32.0, Date: September 13, 2026
Highlights
- Focus, optional: say what your main topic is for, and generation follows it.
- Five strategies, 25 stages: Explore, Learn, Create, Do and Solve, mixed freely up to ten stages.
- Saved on the pack, so it fills in next time and guides new subtopics too.
- Better defaults: generated subtopics now land in a focused range of four to eight.
Topic pack focus is a new, optional section in “Add topics” that tells generation what the pack is for. Leave it closed and everything works exactly as it did. Open it and you choose the stages your topics should cover, which turns a general list into one built around learning something, doing something, or solving something.
Building Blocks
- New: A collapsible Focus section in “Add topics”. Five strategy cards act as tabs: Explore, Learn, Create, Do and Solve. Click one to see its five stages, and mix and match stages from any of them, up to ten in total. Each card shows how many of its stages are ticked, and “Select all” fills only the room you have left.
- New: The stages are Explore (Discover, Understand, Compare, Analyze, Connect), Learn (Foundations, Core Concepts, Methods, Practice, Mastery), Create (Imagine, Design, Gather, Build, Refine), Do (Know, Choose, Prepare, Act, Improve) and Solve (Identify, Diagnose, Decide, Resolve, Prevent). Each stage’s description is shown next to its checkbox and sent along with the request.
- New: Generation respects the focus: every topic serves a stage you ticked, every ticked stage gets at least one topic, and material outside the focus is left out. When topics have to be cut to fit the count, the last topic for a stage is kept so no stage is lost.
- New: The focus is saved on the pack when you click “Add to pack” and fills in the next time you open it. “Clear focus” resets it, and “Edit topic” shows the saved focus it is following so new subtopics stay in line with it.
- New: An “Even only” checkbox for subtopics, ticked by default, so every topic ends with an even number of subtopics. When you are editing a topic, it is the total, existing plus new, that ends even. If no count in your range can be even, the range wins.
- Improved: Subtopics now default to a range of four to eight instead of one to thirty, which produces a focused pack rather than an unpredictable one.
- Improved: The topics minimum follows the number of stages you have ticked, up and down, and cannot go below it. The maximum starts five above the minimum and moves with it, up to thirty, until you type a maximum of your own. After that it stays where you put it, and is only raised if the minimum passes it.
- Improved: The topics “Sort A to Z” checkbox now starts unticked, so generated topics keep the order the stages put them in. Subtopics still start ticked.
- Improved: The “Add topics” subject box is now labeled “Main topic”.
- Improved: The Subtopics help guide has a new Focus section explaining the strategies and stages.
