Blueprint Composer Gets Locked Default Sections

09/13/2026

Version: 2.33.0, Date: September 13, 2026

Highlights

  • Default Sections: Main Idea and AI Model now live in their own locked card.
  • Main Idea preview is view only, because the person running the blueprint writes it.
  • Consistent windows across variables, topic packs, Main Sections and categories.
  • Category dropdowns show icons and open on top of the window instead of being cut off.

The blueprint composer had two pieces that could be moved and edited but should never have been: Main Idea and AI Model sat in Blueprint Sections alongside the sections you actually assemble, and the preview offered a text box for a main idea that the person running the blueprint is supposed to write. Both are fixed, and the Building Blocks windows get a consistent layout at the same time.

Blueprints

  • New: A locked Default Sections card holds Main Idea and AI Model. It cannot be edited, moved or removed, which is the point: these two are always present.
  • New: The Main Sections picker gains a “Search Main Sections” box that matches on name and description, plus a footer with “Build manually instead” and “Done”.
  • Improved: The live preview’s Main Idea card no longer has a text box. It shows a note explaining that the end user writes their core idea when they run the blueprint. The “+ Variable” menu is still there.
  • Improved: The Blueprint Sections and Variables cards now match the Topics card, with a tip line and a two button grid at the bottom. Variables offers “Variable Packs” and “Build your own”.
  • Improved: New blueprints start on the Randomize color tone with a random seed. Saved blueprints keep the tone you chose, and older blueprints without one stay on Bright.
  • Improved: The AI Model card subtitle reads “Chosen at runtime”, and its note says “blueprint” rather than “card”.
  • Improved: The Variable Packs picker footer gains “Build manually instead” next to “Done”.

Building Blocks

  • New: An “Edit Category Settings” button on a category’s page opens that category’s own settings window. Deleting is still done from the Categories list.
  • Improved: The variable, topic pack, Main Section and category windows move Cancel, Delete and Create or Save into the header next to the title, and the bottom button row is gone. The Main Section window’s header stays in place while you scroll.
  • Improved: The Icon label, icon search and the Color swatch share one row.
  • Improved: The icon picker always opens on the General 2 group, and picking an icon from search results switches to that icon’s group so you can see what is around it.
  • Improved: Variable and topic pack windows put Publishing, Published or Draft, on the name row, with equal sized buttons and a short note underneath explaining what each means.
  • Improved: The Main Section window puts Categories between Description and Icon, matching the other windows.
  • Improved: The Categories page moves the curated, availability and read only badges from the header down to the search row, which now shows even when there are no subcategories yet. Search, views and sort appear once there are some.
  • Improved: On a Main Section’s page, “+ New Section” is now “+ Add Section”, styled like Add Topic, Add Variable and Add Subcategories.
  • Improved: Edit Category Settings and Edit Main Section use the same sliders icon as Edit Main Topic and Edit Main Variable, and Edit Main Variable is now purple like the others.

Across the App

  • Improved: The “Top level category it sits under” control is now an icon dropdown showing each category’s icon in its own color, and its empty option reads “None (top-level)” instead of a stray label.
  • Fixed: Category and subcategory dropdown lists were being cut off by the window containing them. They now open on top of it, flip upward when there is no room below, and follow their button when the window scrolls. This applies everywhere these dropdowns are used.

Topic Pack Focus: Choose the Stages Your Pack Covers

09/13/2026

Version: 2.32.0, Date: September 13, 2026 Highlights Topic pack focus is a new, optional section in “Add topics” that tells generation what the pack is for. Leave it closed and everything works exactly as it did. Open it and you choose the stages your topics should cover, which turns a general list into one built […]

Topic Popup Now Names the Topic You Are Editing

09/12/2026

Version: 2.31.4, Date: September 12, 2026 The topic popup did not tell you which topic you had opened, which is easy to lose track of in a large pack. It does now, and the A to Z sorting is split so you can order topics and subtopics independently. Building Blocks

Subtopic Generation Stays on Topic and on Count

09/12/2026

Version: 2.31.3, Date: September 12, 2026 Subtopic generation inside “Edit topic” now does what the name suggests. Generating from that window used to be able to create new topics rather than adding to the one you opened, and the count you set was a starting point rather than a result, because anything filtered out as […]

Add Subcategories in One Flow, Without Leaving the Page

09/12/2026

Version: 2.30.0, Date: September 12, 2026 You can now add subcategories in the same flow that creates the category. Creating a category from a picker used to stop at the category itself: filling in its subcategories meant leaving the page you were working on and coming back, which is enough friction that most categories never […]
