A Searchable Icon Picker With 1,594 Icons
Version: 2.7.1, Date: August 22, 2026
The icon picker is the centerpiece of this release. Six near identical pickers scattered through the app have been replaced by one shared, searchable component, the catalog behind it has grown to the full icon set, and hundreds of icons that had been filed into whatever group had space are now in groups that make sense.
Highlights
- 1,594 icons, all searchable: the catalog is now the complete icon set, with one search box across all 36 groups.
- Icons filed where you would look for them: 418 icons were moved out of the wrong groups.
- Resizable dialogs: the Categories, Topics and Variables dialogs drag to resize from any edge or corner.
- Custom order that works: subcategories can be dragged into the order you want, which the option previously promised but never did.
Across the App
- New: One icon picker now serves every place you choose an icon: categories, global sections, libraries, topic packs, variable packs and section settings. They were six separate copies before, which is why they never quite matched.
- New: The picker has a search box that filters across all 36 groups at once and hides the group tabs while you are searching. At roughly 1,600 icons, browsing tab by tab is no longer a realistic way to find anything.
- New: The app version is shown in the header, read directly from the build, so what you see can no longer drift out of date with what is actually running.
- Improved: The catalog grew from 942 to 1,594 icons, the complete set rather than a subset, organised into 36 groups instead of 25. New groups include Actions and Editing, UI and Layout, Transform and Arrange, Chevrons and Movement, Connectivity and Status, Folders, Squares and Frames, Circles, Alignment and Spacing, Brands and Social, and Version Control.
- Improved: Groups hold more icons before overflowing, and when one does overflow it spills into a clearly labelled continuation of the same group rather than a catch-all bucket. There is no Misc group, because running out of room is not the same thing as not knowing where something belongs.
- Improved: The icon grid follows the width of the dialog instead of a fixed number of columns, so making the dialog wider actually shows you more icons per row.
- Fixed: 418 icons were re-filed. An old cap on group size had been met by dumping alphabetically adjacent leftovers wherever there was room, which is how a banana and an armchair ended up under Security, a bath and a bed under Tools, and an ambulance under Marketing. All of them are now where you would look for them.
- Removed: The manual Dark toggle has been retired. Dark mode still follows your device or operating system setting automatically.
Building Blocks
- Improved: The Categories, Topics and Variables dialogs all share the same treatment now. Each can be dragged to resize from any edge or corner, opens at a larger default size, and scrolls its body independently of the header so the title and actions stay put.
- Improved: The colour control moved into the action row, and the colour swatch previews your selected icon on your selected colour, with the icon flipping between black and white as needed so it stays readable on light and dark backgrounds.
- Improved: On the Categories dialog, the name and the “Sits under” parent selector now sit on one row. On Topics and Variables, the Categories field moved directly under the description where it reads more naturally.
- Improved: Delete is now a single icon button at the end of the action row, hidden entirely for new records and for anyone viewing a curated item they cannot edit. It still opens the same confirmation step as before.
- Fixed: Custom order on the Categories detail page sorted by a position value that nothing ever set, so choosing it did nothing at all. Subcategories can now be dragged into order with grip handles and clear drop feedback, and the order is saved. If saving fails the list reverts and tells you.
