Variable Packs: Reusable Inputs for Every Prompt

08/04/2026

Version: 2.4.9, Date: August 4, 2026

Variable Packs are the headline of this release: reusable sets of typed inputs that you fill in once and reuse, instead of retyping the same keywords, tone, and audience details into every prompt you write. They live in a new Building Blocks section in the left menu, which is where reusable ingredients will gather as more of them ship. This release also carries a broad consistency pass over sort menus, card actions, and stat tiles across the app.

Highlights

  • Building Blocks arrives. A new left-menu section for reusable ingredients that plug into the things you build.
  • Variable Packs. Typed, reusable inputs with twelve field types, live previews, and one-click AI drafting.
  • Value or instruction. A single choice can inject a full writing brief into your prompt, not just a bare word.
  • Curated packs for everyone. Platform-authored packs are browsable by all users, read-only.

Building Blocks: Variables

  • New: Building Blocks is a new section in the left menu, and Variables is its first resident. A Building Block is an ingredient rather than a finished output: it does not produce anything on its own, it plugs into the prompts, chains, and analyzers you already build.
  • New: A Variable Pack is a named group of reusable inputs. Instead of typing your audience, tone, keywords, and output settings into every prompt, you define them once in a pack and drop them in as tokens. Each variable gets its own token, which is derived automatically from the name you give it so the two can never drift apart.
  • New: Variables come in twelve types, so each input behaves the way it should: short text, long text, choice, yes or no, number, scale, date, color, link, email, list, and key and value pairs. Each one can carry a default, a help hint, and a required flag.
  • New: Every variable decides how it enters the prompt, and this is the part that does the real work. Insert the value drops your answer in as-is. As a sentence wraps it in a phrase you write. As an instruction replaces it with expert guidance, set per option for a choice or per state for a yes or no toggle. That means picking Commercial from a dropdown can inject an entire writing brief while the person running the prompt sees nothing more complicated than a dropdown.
  • New: The pack editor is a two-column workspace. Your configuration sits on the left, and the right side shows two live previews as you type: what the end user will actually see, rendered with the real control, and what lands in the assembled prompt behind the scenes. There is no guessing about how a variable will behave once someone runs it.
  • New: Auto-write drafts your copy for you. One click writes a variable’s help text or its usage guidance, or a description for the whole pack. It is metered the same way every other AI action in the app is.
  • New: The Variables list page ships with the tools you already know from the rest of the app: search, one through four card views, sorting, per-card color, stat tiles, and the standard pagination bar.
  • New: Curated packs, authored by the platform, are visible to every user rather than admins only. They appear under a Curated tab beside your own packs, marked with a read-only badge. You can open one, browse its variables, and see exactly how it is built, which makes them a working reference for authoring your own.
  • New: A help page inside the app walks through each variable type, with a worked example built around an SEO pack.
  • Improved: The authoring steps were reordered so naming a variable comes before choosing its type, and the numbering now flows top to bottom. The type picker is also listed alphabetically, which makes finding a specific type much faster once you know what you are looking for.

Prompt Studio

  • New: The stat tiles on your prompts page are now filters. Click Tags, Favorites, or Versions to filter the list to matching items, and click again to clear. They stay in sync with the matching toolbar controls, so both paths lead to the same result.
  • Improved: More ways to sort. Prompt lists gained Date Created, Sections, Category, and Visibility. Builders gained Category and Outputs. Section detail pages gained Fields, and your analyzers gained Date, Category, and Visibility.
  • Improved: Section category cards were rebuilt on the shared card design used elsewhere in the app. They now carry the standard icon tile, a divided footer with a field count, and a color strip along the bottom, instead of the one-off design they used before.

Libraries

  • New: Auto-write for library descriptions. A button in both the library modal and the library settings page drafts a description from what the library contains, metered like every other AI action.

Across the App

  • Improved: Sort menus are now grouped. Options sit under labeled headers with separators between groups, rather than arriving as one long unbroken list. This applies across twelve pages, including chains, prompts, builders, analyzers, variables, libraries, and models.
  • Improved: Card action buttons follow one rule everywhere. In list view and two-column view, actions show an icon and a word. In three and four-column view they are icon-only, where space is tight. Pages that were missing a four-column view have gained one, so every gallery offers the same range.
  • Fixed: Confirmation messages for publishing, favoriting, and duplicating now appear at the top center of the screen, matching the rest of the app instead of appearing somewhere different depending on which page you were on.
  • Fixed: A persistent saving spinner that stayed pinned in the header after a save has been removed.
  • Fixed: The color picker button no longer sits too high in card footers, so it lines up with the other controls beside it.
