Variables in Prompt Studio Now Work

08/11/2026

Version: 2.4.12, Date: August 11, 2026

Variables in Prompt Studio are now connected end to end. Until this release, Variable Packs could be authored in Building Blocks but nothing actually consumed them. Now an author attaches packs to a prompt and chooses exactly which variables to expose, and the person running that prompt inserts them into their goal and fills in their values, which resolve into the prompt that gets generated.

Highlights

  • Attach and expose. Authors pick which packs a prompt uses, and which variables run it.
  • Drag a variable into your goal. Value tokens go exactly where you want them, not wherever the app decides.
  • Guidance lands separately. Sentence and instruction variables append as guidance rather than jamming mid-sentence.
  • Only what you use. Variables you did not activate never reach the generated prompt.

Prompt Studio

  • New: Authors can attach Variable Packs to a prompt from both the create and edit pages. A resizable picker slides in with your own packs and the curated ones side by side, plus a direct link to manage your variables without losing your place.
  • New: Exposure is chosen per variable, not per pack. After attaching a pack you tick the specific variables the end user is allowed to insert, with select all and clear all for larger packs. This keeps a twenty-variable pack from flooding the menu when a prompt only needs three of them.
  • New: A plus Variable menu sits on the Main Goal. It groups the available variables by how they are used, keeps each on a single line, and stays open until you have added everything you need or click away.
  • New: Value variables appear as draggable badges. Drag one into your goal to place its token exactly where you want it, or click to place it. Your active variables live in their own list, independent of the goal text, so clearing the goal no longer wipes out the variables you had set up.
  • New: Value inputs appear below the goal with color-coded badges showing how each one behaves, whether it inserts a value, a sentence, or an instruction. You can drag them into whatever order suits you, and a one or two-column toggle controls how densely they are laid out.
  • New: Values resolve according to each variable’s mode. A value variable substitutes inline wherever you placed its token. A sentence or instruction variable appends as additional guidance at the end, rather than being forced into the middle of a sentence where it would read badly. If you leave a variable blank, its default fills in.
  • Improved: Only the variables you actually activated are resolved into the prompt. Anything an author exposed but you did not use is left out entirely, so an unused variable can never leak into your output.

Section Categories

  • New: A Fields toggle switches section fields between one and two columns, separate from the existing Cards toggle, so you can control the density of the fields and the cards independently.
  • Improved: Creating a section category now takes you straight into its section editor, instead of dropping you back on the list to find and open what you just made.
  • Improved: Section fields have light individual borders, making it clearer where one field ends and the next begins on a busy card.
  • Improved: List inputs accept pasted comma separated values in addition to one-at-a-time entry.

Prompt Chains and a Dashboard That Matches the Menu

09/01/2026

Version: 2.12.3, Date: September 1, 2026 Highlights Prompt Chains is the headline of this release, but the real theme is agreement: the dashboard, the help center and the left menu had drifted apart, so the same feature could go by two names depending on where you looked. This release brings all three back into line […]
