Shared Categories Across Every Building Block

08/22/2026

Version: 2.7.0, Date: August 22, 2026

Shared categories replace the pattern where each feature invented its own way of organizing things. There is now a single Category and Subcategory taxonomy, managed in one place, that every part of the app reads from. Analyzers, chains and templates will attach to the same set as they come online, so there is no second category system to build or maintain.

Highlights

  • One taxonomy, every asset: build your Category and Subcategory set once and attach it to variable packs, topic packs, sections and prompt cards.
  • AI drafts your subcategories: name a category, let the AI propose the subcategories, keep the ones you want.
  • The same picker everywhere: attaching a category looks and works identically on every asset form, with create-new built in.
  • Filter and chips on every list: categories are visible on cards and filterable on every list page.

Building Blocks

  • New: Categories is a new Building Block with its own management page. It uses the standard Building Blocks layout you already know: summary stats, a My and Curated split, search, five view modes, sorting and pagination.
  • New: The taxonomy is two levels, Category and Subcategory, and each entry carries its own icon, colour and description. Curated categories are provided for you and are read-only; anything you create is your own and private to you.
  • New: Each category has its own editor page. The flow mirrors topic packs: create a category, land in its editor, generate or add the subcategories, prune what you do not want, and save.
  • New: AI can draft a set of subcategories under any parent. Generation is metered like every other AI action and works with your own API key if you use one.
  • New: Subcategories can be added in a batch rather than one at a time, and names that already exist under the parent are skipped instead of duplicated.

Prompt Studio

  • New: Categories can be attached to custom prompt cards on both the create and edit screens, using the same picker as everywhere else.
  • New: Variable packs, topic packs and section libraries all take categories too, so a single vocabulary describes your whole workspace rather than four disconnected ones.
  • Improved: Categories are saved immediately after the asset itself, since a brand new asset has no identity until it is saved. If attaching fails for any reason you are told, but your asset is never lost because of it.

Across the App

  • New: One category picker appears identically on every asset form, including an inline option to create a new category without leaving what you are working on.
  • New: Category chips show on your items, and a category filter appears on the list pages, so you can narrow a long list to the area you care about.
  • Improved: An asset can carry up to three categories, enforced consistently in the picker and when saving, which keeps chips readable and filters meaningful.
  • Improved: Your private categories stay private. Only categories you can actually see can be attached to your assets, so nothing can be pinned to someone else’s private category.
  • Improved: Section categories now refer to the section library, which is what the section list actually shows you, so grouping behaves the way the page reads.
  • Improved: Category scoping, which will let a category apply only to certain kinds of asset, is groundwork in this release rather than a switch you can flip. Every category is offered on every surface for now, which is the deliberate starting point.

Prompt Chains and a Dashboard That Matches the Menu

09/01/2026

Version: 2.12.3, Date: September 1, 2026 Highlights Prompt Chains is the headline of this release, but the real theme is agreement: the dashboard, the help center and the left menu had drifted apart, so the same feature could go by two names depending on where you looked.
