Customizable Library Icons with 460 Emoji Options

This release introduces a complete emoji icon system for libraries. Instead of every library showing the same default icon, you can now choose from 460 carefully curated emojis organized into 23 themed categories — from AI and engineering to medical, gaming, and travel. Custom icons appear on library cards, detail pages, and list views, making it much faster to find the library you’re looking for at a glance.
New Features
- Library emoji icons — Every library can now display a custom emoji icon. Open the icon picker from your library’s management page, browse or search through the available emojis, and select one that represents your library’s content. The icon appears everywhere your library is shown — cards, lists, and detail pages.
- 460 emojis across 23 categories — The icon picker organizes emojis into themed categories for easy browsing: AI, Animals, Astronomy, Automotive, Buildings, Business, Creative, Cybersecurity, Education, Electronics, Engineering, Food, Fun, Gaming, Medical, Music, Pets, Plants, Religion, Sports, Travel, Weather, and Accessibility. Each category contains 20 visually distinct, colorful emojis.
- Icon picker modal — A dedicated modal interface lets you browse categories, preview emojis at a comfortable size, and select with a single click. The picker prioritizes colorful, visually distinct emojis over flat monochrome icons for better recognition.
- Automatic fallback — Existing libraries automatically display the default 📚 icon until you choose a custom one. There’s no migration required — the change is seamless for all existing libraries.
- Full emoji range support — The emoji display system supports all Unicode emoji ranges through Unicode 15.0, including newer emoji from categories like medical, engineering, and fun that use extended character ranges. All 460 emojis render correctly across library cards and detail pages.
