Topic Packs: Reusable Topics for Prompt Cards
Version: 2.4.15, Date: August 19, 2026
Topic packs are the headline of this release. Until now, the topics a prompt card could produce had to be typed by hand into an Outputs section on every single card, with nothing reusable between them. Topics is now a Building Block in its own right, sitting alongside Variables, so the topic sets you care about are built once, refined over time, and plugged into as many cards as you like.
Highlights
- Topics is a Building Block: build a topic set once and reuse it, the same way you already reuse Variables.
- Generate topics with AI: ask for a set of topics and subtopics, choose how many, or let the AI decide.
- Attach whole packs to a card: add a pack, then tick exactly which subtopics that card should offer.
- A readable run experience: the person running your card sees a titled checklist with descriptions instead of a wall of pills.
Building Blocks
- New: Topics is a new Building Block, reached from the left navigation. The list page shows all your packs, and a New Topic Pack dialog creates one in a couple of fields.
- New: Each pack has its own editor where topics are listed as rows you can drag to reorder, rename, edit or delete, with the subtopics nested underneath each one.
- New: AI can generate a pack for you. Give it a subject, set a minimum and maximum number of topics and subtopics, or choose “AI decides” and let it pick the right shape for the material.
- New: Each pack carries its own AI Instructions, so you can steer the voice and framing of what gets generated. Note that these instructions currently guide generation only; wiring them into the card run engine is still to come.
- New: Packs can be private to you or shared as curated packs for everyone. Curated packs open in a read-only view, so you can see exactly what is in one before using it without any risk of altering it.
- New: Subtopics now support an optional description, which is what powers the labelled checklist on the run page.
Prompt Studio
- New: The card editor has a Topics card in the left column, its own building block parallel to Variables. Add whole packs from a picker split between My Topics and Curated, with an “Added” indicator so you can see at a glance what is already on the card.
- New: After adding a pack you can fine tune it per card: tick which subtopics under each topic your end users should be able to choose, without changing the pack itself. You can also mark the whole Topics section as required.
- Improved: The run page now shows topics as a titled checkbox list with each option’s label and description, grouped by the pack it came from, and it respects the one column and two column view toggle. Previously this was an undifferentiated wall of pills.
- Removed: The manual Outputs section on individual cards is retired. Anything you used to hand key onto one card is now a pack you build once and reuse, and existing cards continue to work as they did.
