Sections in Building Blocks and a New Category Picker

08/26/2026

Version: 2.9.2, Date: August 26, 2026

Highlights

The category picker is the centerpiece of this release. Prompt Cards had been carrying their own category list alongside the shared one, with both live at the same time, and this release retires the card-only path so there is a single set of categories behind everything. Sections also moves out of Prompt Studio and into Building Blocks, where the rest of the reusable pieces live.

  • One category system on prompt cards. The card’s own separate category list is retired, leaving the shared one.
  • Sections moved into Building Blocks. It sits alongside Categories, Topics and Variables instead of inside Prompt Studio.
  • A reworked category picker. Icons in the dropdowns, alphabetical lists, and selecting a category attaches it straight away.

Building Blocks

  • Improved: Sections moved out of Prompt Studio and into Building Blocks, and the menu item is now simply Sections rather than Section Categories. The list, detail and settings pages all moved with it, and the old links redirect, so any bookmarks you have saved still work.
  • Improved: The Building Blocks menu now reads Categories, Topics, Sections, Variables. The Section Categories wording is gone from the page header, help panel, buttons, back links, the section picker and the dashboard quick link.
  • Improved: The category picker now shows each category’s own icon as a colour tinted marker in both dropdowns, so you can tell entries apart at a glance instead of reading a plain list of names.
  • Improved: Category dropdowns are alphabetical everywhere: the attach picker, the list page filter and the parent dropdown when creating or editing. Once you have hundreds of categories, any other order is unusable. The category pages themselves still honour the order you dragged them into.
  • Improved: Selecting a category attaches it immediately, so the separate Add button is gone. Picking a different category changes the one you already chose, and picking a subcategory refines it to parent and child. Add another category clears the row so you can start a second one.
  • Improved: When you reach the limit on attached categories the controls disable rather than accepting a click that does nothing, and each create link now sits under the dropdown it affects, with the count of attached categories on the label row.
  • Fixed: Categories generated in batches could all be numbered from the same starting point, so successive batches collided and the ordering on the category pages looked arbitrary. New batches now continue from the highest existing item, and the existing ordering has been repaired.
  • Fixed: The Curated grouping in the section library picker always fell back to a single General heading. It now reads the categories actually attached to each library, so those headings work for the first time.

Prompt Studio

  • Improved: Search on Browse and Run now matches the names of the categories attached to a card, so searching for a category brings back the cards filed under it.
  • Improved: Sorting by category on both card lists now sorts on the card’s first attached category name, so the order reflects the categories you assigned.
  • Improved: A card can now carry several categories, and all of them are passed through when the card runs, so the model sees the full set rather than a single label.
  • Improved: In the composer, Auto write and its credit note are pinned to the far right of the short description row, and the character count moved up beside the label. Previously the count sat next to the credit note and could read as though it were telling you what the generation costs. The prompt name count moved beside its label to match.
  • Fixed: My Prompts had a leftover category filter running alongside the shared one, so two filters were competing on the same list. The leftover one has been removed.
  • Removed: The card’s own Category and Sub category dropdowns are gone. Prompt cards now use the shared category system only, and the shared picker is the single control, sitting in the card setup directly under the short description.
  • Removed: The legacy color badges on Browse and Run are replaced by the shared category filter and category chips, and the duplicate Uncategorized badges on the manage card are gone.
